So, sew?!

So what's up with the "sew" in Sewchique?!  I feel lame for claiming the name and not following through, a bit misleading right?  I promise it's only temporary.

My belongings are slowly floating across the ocean right now, as I recently moved across the world.  So stranded I am, without a sewing machine and Number Four my mannequin.  I wonder how she is doing...the last I saw she was looking a bit kinky.

But here's a little update on one of the many favorite pieces I've made on the Sewchique.  I wore it to Miami Swim fashion week, with a beloved Mara Hoffman bikini top.  You can see the work in progress here, here, and here.

Kooey swim

Mercedes Benz Miami fashion week.  If you love swimwear, I would think that it's a good place to be next week...I'll tell ya when I get there ;)

The girl looks hot of course.  Makes we want to get a haircut.  The dood, what's he doing there?!  Ok you can flex and you can wear eye-liner, you can wave an arm, and pull a string - most of it looks a tad awkward to me.  Wouldn't you agree?

And just so I don't end with something negative - the colored sand, nice touch.  I wonder how many eye shadows they crumbled up to make it.

Vix update

From 75+ designs, I've made it to the Top 10!  Vix will be announcing their winners in the next few days...fingers crossed.

Alexander Wang swim

I've been a lil bit obsessed with swimwear lately, actually that's a lie it's been always.

And with the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim coming up, I feel a little bit like a werewolf with a full moon approaching.

Did you know Alexander Wang is coming out with a swimwear line?  Look for it during his Resort collection.  He's been teasing...

I can only imagine...

For the love of swim - and Zimmermann

Once upon a time Zimmermann had a store in Soho!  Not yet knowing what I was entering I glided into the lofty space, thrilled to find bikinis galore and cascading coverups.  Little did I know that it was only a pop-up store - I would have made more lunch dates if I knew it would not be happily ever after :)

It did, however, mark the beginning of a long distance relationship.

So I've been working on some bikini designs, thus the lack of posts.  Vix held a bikini design contest and I entered a few designs.  On June 1 they announced the finalists and I made it!!!

 

The first is my personal fave.  And also the finalist.  The *Inga*.  I am very creative with the names as you can see :)  The other two (names) are my sister and boyfriend!  I tried to keep to what the Vix girl would wear...inevitably the design process gave birth to a whole world of other swimwear designs that I've sketched up.  For what, I'm not sure, maybe simply for the love of swimwear!
