Blocking it

I first started this blog project with the (oh so lofty) intention of creating a look a week.  Much easier said than done.  I even told myself that not everything needs to be perfected.  And not everything has to be a success.  All of which is hard for me but also that much harder because I end up sharing it here!

But then life takes place...

...and suddenly you find that you haven't even had a chance to sit down in front of the computer that you used to spend hours a day with!  (So the vaca was only a few days of the many I was slaving away I kid you not - S & A you know I love you!)

And you haven't even visited your favorite blogs for weeks!

How do all the bloggers out there do it??  Speaking of distractions...

Now back to blocking things :)

And cutting things...

And creating more things!

Here's what I'm going to start with...A mint green jersey skirt I bought from H&M, on sale for something like $5.99.  And some silky gauze fabric from my trusted friend Kashi.

Placemat bags

I'm not making placemats, but it sure does look like it.

Here are a few things I saw today on lookbook:

Lil bit obsessed

I've been stalking this emerald dress since it's earlier days.  It's out now, I've seen it in person, but really didn't need to.  Sometimes it's enough to just get the gist of it.

It also has equally inspiring sisters!

Let the crazies come out

Every 18 years the moon gets as close to the earth as it ever will.  Tonight's the night.  Go take a look!  It's Supermoon:

Speaking of crazies...I also dropped by Kashi's and picked up some *bright-colored fabrics*!  If you know me, I'm more of a sullen color girl, I'm not so inclined to wear colors but 'tis the season.

(Plus, fellow blogger E from It's a Dollhouse Baby so kindly reminded me that as much as we love mauve, it's spring time and this season it's all about brights - and she's so right.)

P.S. It's Macaron Day NYC (Sunday)!  Go get yer free macarons!

Some twill

I went and bought some twill tape today at Pacific Trimming.  This is my go-to place for trims, and if I can't find what I'm looking for there, I try the others (Sil, Panda, Steinlauf & Stoller).

I'm not sure why I felt the need for twill, since (let me tell you a secret) I haven't started the skirt yet!  I couldn't find a color match but then again I think I was looking for the perfect mis-match.  When I got home I surfed the world wide web...lo and behold it brought me answers.  Good thing too because guess what, *Tuesday is due day*!

Back to life

Look what I found patiently waiting for me when I came home!

I also found in the mail a couple items I'd ordered online before I left!  Santa made a visit :)

Coastal Contacts has been promoting free glasses through their facebook page...naturally I was suspicious.  I had only stumbled upon the promotion.  Never heard of the place.  Plus, nothing in life is free right?  I chose the frame online, entered my prescription and a few other measurements that they teach you through short videos.  I even called my optician friend L to get her blessing (thanks L for cautioning me!).  Of course you pay for shipping, (30 day full refund), and you can add extras - I chose to add a "coatings value bundle" anti-glare, scratch resistant and something else I forget.  And voila!  $20 and 3 days later.  What do you think?

"You're not a doctor"

I know today is my due day but it'll have to wait a few days.  I had a snowy trip planned and tried to finish the crimson garment before the weekend but just couldn't find something I was satisfied with.

Pictured above is a seam I've decided to leave exposed.  This was supposed to remain hidden on the inside but when I flipped it over, what a nice surprise!

One of my professors always reminded us that we are not doctors; making clothes is not like surgery.  If you make a mistake it's not like someone's life depended on it.  And sometimes that's really the hardest part - making the first cut.

Maxi

With hemlines dropping all over the place, I think it's the perfect time for a rouge floor-skimming style!

Purple rain

So it's official, I'm behind schedule.  This is why:

Prince has convinced me that it's cool to wear sequin PANTS, with a matching silk tunic shirt.  Red, from head to toe, suddenly doesn't sound so bad either!  (And that it's okay to skip an evening of sewing to go watch his sexy dance.)  I still don't think men should wear 5" heels, but Prince can.

So now that the Prince concert is out of the way, here's a sneak peak of what's to come!
