A new year

It's a new year here, let's make it the best one yet!

In the twenties

I've been thinking about the 1920s a lot lately.  Even watched the old Great Gatsby.  It'll be interesting to see the new one.

It's hard to believe we're one week away from Christmas.  And 2012 is just around the corner.  I have a million things to get done...speaking of which, I should probably not be doing this right now...!

Apples

Around this time of year is usually when I go a bit apple crazy.  I made it to December without flinching, but now I'm realizing I've missed out on something...

If you know me, I love my train rides.  This is one of my magical favorites, taken a handful of times (along with a handful of photos) riding along the water until you reach the hot apple cider, fresh doughnuts, and clear sky.

At the end of the day you're tired and so satisfied.

Red shades

Currently my most-worn shades.

Looking serious.  I guess that's what shades do!

(Sorry bf for taking pics in the fitting rooms :)

Pink + neon + hightops

I'm finding myself undeniably obsessed with hightops.  I want to wear these all the time but I worry I look like a child (add on Asian genes and voila you're a decade younger :).

Unrelated to the hightops, I got carded at a casino yesterday.  The age limit is 18.  I'm more than a decade older than that.

Living dead

It's a vicious cycle - the event comes and goes and you spend the next year thinking about what to do for Halloween, again.  My trick is to play dead.

And prey on the innocent.

So yeah, zombie housewife, zombie teacher (with a zombie student too!), Gogo from Kill Bill, and - I need to find it but I might have deleted bc it freakin scared me to look at them - the dead thing from The Ring.

All the crazies come out.  It's great.  I took this shot while heading to the parade last year, coming out of the subway.

No one can really outdo New York with Halloween.  Remember the year when there was (still is??) a bed bug epidemic?  Human-sized paper-mache bed bugs.  Droves of them.

Kate Moss 10yrs @ Rimmel

Has it been 10 years already?  I can still recall when it was first launched!  ...thinking it was an interesting name and I still remember that moment now - goes to show it's all in a name.

Kate Moss attended the London version of the celebration, which also marked the launch of her London Lipstick Collection by Kate.  See video here.

Great job Camille!  xoxo

P.S. Fish and chips as finger food!  My first, though in this part of the world I'm sure it won't be the last.

Dear friends,

I have not been ignoring you, in fact I think about you often.  After 2 long - really painfully long - months without internet I am finally back.  It's hard to leave behind the New Yorker in you.  I called 3 times, argued, and physically went and picked up the modem on foot today.  I used a map too, well the one on my phone, but if you know me you know how confusing those lines are to me.  And instruction manuals - of which I used to install these wires and boxes.  (And if that was not punishment enough, I also lugged a me-sized box home and assembled it...yet another task I aim to do as sparingly as possible, even if it was pretty much only 4 screws.)

Forgive me for being so MIA!  *insert cute puppy photo, Chowder*

Impending apocalypse

New York is experiencing stormageddon as we speak.

So what do New Yorkers do in such desperate times?  We take a lovely stroll to the farmers' market, with an umbrella in hand, in case it rains.  We venture to the local grocery store that has conveniently stayed open late at night.  We avoid taking the subway after noon time since it will no longer be running - the taxi ride was a bit risky but we made it to our friend's place safely.  Thank goodness we made it, since we were carrying a bottle of wine and ingredients for dinner.

The adventures!  Oh, and let's not forget our Game of Thrones marathon.

We like to take risks.
